I’m saving that for later

Guess what we started today?

What is this?

Our very first solids!

At our 4 month appointment, our pediatrician asked us to tell her what Peanut did while we ate.  So we did.  We told her how she follows the chips from the bag to my mouth.  How she freezes and watches any time one of us tries to stuff our face.  How she loves to smell whatever we’re tasting.

So our pediatrician said that it sounds like Addison wants to try that food for herself.  And we had to oblige.

Mom, go faster!

I was scared.  And nervous.  I’m not sure what about, but I’m guessing it has something to do with her growing up way too quickly.

Ugh, here, let me help you

But from this very first meal, it looks like I shouldn’t have.  Because she seemed to love it.

Must shove food into mouth

She thought it was the funnest thing.  Ever.  She watched me scoop it in her mouth, then tried to help by shoving her hands (covered with rice cereal) in as well.

I'm saving that for later

Then she got tired of not being able to gobble up a ton of it, so we quit while we were still ahead.

So there you have it.  We have a kid who’s eating solids.

Dear time – I quit.  Could you quit as well?

When did your little ones start eating solids?

What’s your favorite meal?

Belly Update - 40 Weeks

Well, folks, guess what today is?

It's officially Peanut's due date.  As in, she's due to come out today.  Guess who missed the memo?

Instead of harping on the negatives, I decided to make a list of things that I love about being pregnant.

  • The belly: I seriously love it.  I thought I would have a hard time adjusting to the extra weight, but I love the big, tight belly!  I think it looks cute.  Although many women can't stand other people touching their bellies when pregnant, I love it!  I welcome all hands on my big round front hump and get excited for everyone to feel the baby kick or move.
  • Healthy eating: I've always been on the healthy side, but being pregnant made me very aware of what I was consuming.  That doesn't mean that I don't indulge in Big Macs and hot dogs, but generally, I've been eating really well and feeling great because of it.
  • Feeling great: I know this isn't something that many women feel when pregnant and I'll probably be stabbed by a few of you for this one, but I feel great.  Before the pregnancy I had a lot of digestive issues and since I got pregnant, it all went away!  I've been able to eat so many things I couldn't eat before (including ice cream!).  I'm also incredibly lucky for never getting morning sickness or a lot of other issues that go hand-in-hand with pregnancy.
  • Extra care and attention: mostly from my husband, but others as well!  Jon's been such a doting daddy-to-be.  He has really picked up on extra chores around the house and haven't complained (much) about the extra duties.  He's also become even more attentive and protective, which I find wicked cute.  Even strangers seem to treat you differently when you're pregnant - I've never had so many doors held open or admiring looks from strangers.
Are you loving the slippers?
What do you love or miss about being pregnant?

Belly Update - 39 Weeks

Well, folks, Peanut is officially 39 weeks in my belly.

39 weeks.  Do you know how long that is?  That's 1 week before the due date.

Needless to say, we're getting antsy over here.  Or rather, we were getting antsy around 38 weeks.  Now we're just plain impatient.

I can't believe that the last 2 weeks of pregnancy can feel as long as the first 9 months!

I did read something on one of the forums I follow that makes me want to be just a little more patient: these are the last couple of weeks that Peanut will be completely comfortable before she is birthed, poked, prodded, cold, and hungry.  So just for you, my little Peanut, we'll try to be super patient.

Plus I'm still feeling really great so I should be thankful for that.

But just for fun.

Things I can't wait to do again once the baby comes:
  • Bend over
  • Sit up or stand up without having to rock back and forth a couple of times
  • Have a glass of wine or champagne
  • Take an extra hot bath
  • Not pee every 5-20 minutes
  • Wear high heels without getting tired after a couple of hours
  • Eat sushi...raw fish...unlimited amount of hot dogs...keilbasa...oh drool
  • Have as much caffeine as I want to...which isn't much...but I want the choice
Things I can't wait to do with our little Peanut:
  • Stare at her all day and night long
  • Smell her
  • Touch her little feet and hands
  • Take about 5 gazillion pictures
  • Watch Jon hold our daughter
  • See Peanut in the room that we lovingly refer to as the "Museum" aka the Nursery
  • Lose sleep being up with the baby (yup, I'm sadistic like that)

Belly Update - 37 Weeks

Merry Christmas everyone (who celebrates Christmas)!

Jon and I made out like bandits this year and I have about a gazillion pictures and recipes to post for you, but I'll start with a Belly update.  Today marks 37 weeks or official "full-term" for P-nizzle.

Not too much has changed since Week 36 except I, somehow, keep growing!  Honestly, at this point I didn't think it would be possible, but now that I look at the pictures, belly continues to get bigger and bigger.  It's a miracle I don't fall over when I walk!

On a slightly different note, all my "buddies" on the What To Expect discussion board that are due in January seem to be going into labor or having their babies!  I'm a little jealous since I'm dying to meet our little Peanut.

Anyone want to start taking bets on when Peanut will be here?

Belly Update - 36 weeks

Don't forget to enter the current giveaway: 2 Amazon gift cards

So we're officially in the last month.  The home stretch.

36 weeks
I can't believe how long it's been but also how quickly time flies.

It's just crazy how the past 9 months feel like the longest and shortest 9 months of my life.

A bit about Peanut:
She's probably over 6 lbs and between 19 and 22 inches, the size of a watermelon.  Funny enough that's about what my belly looks like these days anyways.

Although I've been told that she will move around less now that she's bigger, Peanut missed that memo.  She loves kicking, punching, twirling, and generally sticking various limbs out.

And some stuff about me:
My belly button is now almost completely an outtie while it started out as an innie.  Still no stretch marks, so I'm a happy camper.  I do, however, feel like a beached whale.  That's pregnant.  And ready to go.

On that note, Jon and I are almost ready for Peanut's arrival.  We've packed about 80% of the overnight bag and 100% of Peanut's bag (we ended up packing both outfits along with a "Just Born" onesie).  We've also packed up the dogs for their getaway at a friend's house.  I've made a chain phone list so we can call a couple of people and they'll spread the news.  Oh and we think we finished our "birth plan," while really, we have no clue what to expect or how we will feel.

We still have to install the car seats, pack the rest of the bag and put it in the car, bring the dog stuff to my friend's house, and get our insurance information together.

I can't believe that she's almost here.

Belly update - 34 weeks

I can't believe it but we're officially at 8.5 months or 34 weeks.  Time flies when you're having fun?

So what can I tell you about 34 weeks?  Peanut is now the size of a large cantaloupe or just over 5 lbs and 20 inches long.  On another note, this t-shirt used to fit me like a dress and fall just below my bottom.  What gives?

Oh right, Peanut.

Still no stretch marks (woo-hoo! Thanks mom and genetics!), but, as you can see, my belly button has a mind of its own and refuses to live where it's been comfortably living the past 27 years.  Additionally, Peanut is getting so big that it seems there is only enough room in my belly for one of us.  And I'm losing.

But she's way too cute, so I forgive her.  Even when she tries to stick her adorable little foot into my ribs or presses her big butt into my lungs.  Those moments are a little less fun.  But there are some pluses to the big belly.

For example, you have a small table with you at all times.  I've found it's rather helpful for just about anything - from snacks to full dinner plates.  I haven't been able to rest my drinks on it though - mostly because they're either too cold or too hot.  Peanut doesn't like that.

So there you have it.  We've reached 34 weeks.  Only 3 more until full term and just 6 until due date. YIKES.

Belly pic update - 32 weeks

So I missed the 30 week update because our two extremely close friends got married.  Here's a picture from the wedding though:

In my true fashion, I'm holding my camera.

This weekend marked 32 weeks, or about 8 months.

Okay, so I don't think I realized just how big the belly has grown until we took these pictures.

I also cannot believe that we are only 1-2 months away from meeting the little one!

Anyone want to take bets about who she'll look like?

Next up - my baby shower!

28 week belly and finished furniture

I know you were all eagerly awaiting to see our bedding and the complete furniture pictures, so we'll start there.

Crib with bedding
This is the crib.  I wanted something classic-looking and I just adore this Graco Charleston crib.

I love monkeys!
I also found the bedding on amazon.com a few months ago.  We knew we were having a girl and I adore monkeys so this fit in so well!  It's the Boutique Animal Kingdom bedding set.  And we bought the Sealy Baby Ultra Rest mattress after reading a whole bunch of reviews and talking to some friends.

Bedding and toys

I couldn't help myself when I saw the adorable little monkey faces!  It was a 13 piece set and we had to get the lamp shade and mobile separately.

Baby room view from the door
We also dug up an old lamp from our basement and spray painted it pink.  It fits in so well!

For a changing table we wanted something that would match, but would also stay in the room after she is out of diapers.  I love this South Shore changing table in white.  And if you know me, you know how I love baskets so obviously, it needed a spot for some baskets.  (Laura and Janice, if you're reading this, these are the baskets and laundry basket that you guys got us for our wedding!).

So that's it so far.  This weekend we got the decals I ordered on Etsy so stay tuned!

And now, belly pics.

28 Weeks
 Hello 3rd trimester.

28 Weeks
So Peanut is now the size of a small cabbage or about 17 inches and 2.9 lbs.
28 Weeks
She's kicking up a storm and I'm loving every single moment of it!
28 Weeks
It actually hasn't been so bad.  She tends to sleep when I sleep and wake up while I'm up.
28 Weeks
The only time that it's slightly inconvenient is when she sticks her cute little foot into my ribs in a meeting and I try to sit through it without cringing too much.  But I'll forgive her...cuz she's so cute :)
