FF - fun keyword searches

Do you have any analytics software installed on your blog?

I use Google Analytics and it allows me to slice and dice the hits coming to my blog.  One of those is the keywords that people use to search and land on my blog.  Here are 5 of the funnest (is that a word? It’s not…) searches that landed my blog this past month.

1.  Living with 2 girlfriends - 6 searches, stayed on the blog for about a minute and looked at an average of 5 pages.  Don’t you wonder what it is that they found on this blog that made them stay?  And why are there so many searches that land on my blog?

2.  august 2011 baby tree falls on stroller - 2 searches, stayed on the blog for about 3 minutes and looked at an average of 5 pages.  Oh my goodness.  I’m terrified for these people.

3.  how to eat delicious dried fish goldfish russian - 1 search, stayed on the blog for less than a minute and only looked at an average of 1 page.  Are the fish Russian?

4.  fart site:livinglikethekings.com - 1 search, stayed on the blog for under a minute and looked at an average of 2 pages.  For the record, girls do not fart.  I have no idea what they found here.

5. talk to poop - 1 search, stayed on the blog for under a minute and looked at an average of 1 page.  Do I talk about poop a lot here?

Got any fun(ny) searches to share?

FF - Movie Quotes

First off, did you enter my Giveaway?  It's for a $25 gift card to Amazon.com.  No?  Why not?  Don't you like free money?

Moving on.

I've always quoted movies left and right.  Some people just don't understand me because I often speak in movie quotes.  To those people - watch more meaningless movies.  It's good for your brain.

Since I've already quoted the heck out of Anchorman, I won't bug you with those quotes.  But here are a whole bunch (5 if we're counting) of other movie quotes that I adore.

One point if you can name the movie.  Two if you include another awesome quote from it.

1.  "I'm only human, Harry."

2.  "This here, Clark, is an RV."

3.  "Hip? Hip hop?  Hippopanatamus?  Dum you, you give him all ze easy ones!"

4.  "Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time."

5.   "I'm not supposed to be within two hundred feet of a school... or a Chuck E. Cheese."

FF - Photo Apps

In case you haven’t noticed on my Twitter page, I’ve been a bit obsessed with the iPhone photo apps.  And, as is my nature, I am going to post about it so that you are obsessed as well.  Ready?

Instagram

instagram

Cost: $0

Awesome app to “alter” and post your images to Instagram, Twitter or Facebook.

Color Splash

color splash

Cost: $0.99

This is my new favorite app that lets you “color” in potions of your picture while keeping the rest black and white.  I’m a bit obsessed.

Hipstamatic

Cost: $1.99 (so worth it!)

It is like an “old school” camera that lets you “switch” lenses, rolls, and flash.  Basically, you just get cool effects.

Flickr

Cost: $0

I use Flickr for my pictures so loading this app was a must.  It lets you view all your photos or upload from your phone.

PS Express

ps express

Cost: $0

This allows you to fix up some photos as well as add some fun effects.

Don’t you want to see the world through their eyes?  Because more days than not, I do.

I love the way everything is so new and amazing to Peanut, so here are some lessons I’ve learned from my 6 months old.

1.  Wake up and take on each day with a smile.

FF - Favorites

For today’s Friday Five, I’m going to ask you some of your favorites.

If you have a blog, feel free to post a Friday Five with the answers and link up.

Otherwise, leave me a comment!

1. Favorite cuisine:  Japanese.  I loves me some sushi.  Some of my all-time favorite are rainbow roll, spicy tuna, Philadelphia roll.

2.  Favorite vacation:  Aruba honeymoon.  (Laura, I want to say DR because I had an amazing time and I can’t think of a better way to spend a vacation than with my 2 favorite peeps, but the honeymoon wins).  Jon and I spent the whole time laying around, touring the island in a jeep, drinking some yummy drinks, snorkeling, and just generally enjoying the “honeymoon.”

3.  Favorite hobby:  Photography.  There are so many options: nature, the dogs, the baby. The lenses galore. I can’t get enough.  Although, I must tell you, this is one heck of an expensive hobby.

4.  Favorite Holiday tradition: presents! lol I’m just kidding.  One of my favorite traditions is the Progressive Dinner. Jon’s family, who all live near one another, host a progressive dinner every year, about 2 weeks before Christmas.  Each family is assigned a meal (apps, soup, salad, entre, dessert) and everyone decorates their house with the Christmas decorations.  Then, we all get in a car and go house-to-house, ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the Christmas trees, taking pictures, and generally have an incredible day full of conversations, kids, fun, and great food.

5.  Favorite “the-baby’s-asleep-the-chores-are-done-now-what-shall-I-do” pastime: Drinking wine.  Lounging on the couch, watching some TV and blogging.  It’s my way to unwind.

Friday Five - Confessions

I have to tell you all some things…

1.  My house is under some major renovation.  We’re replacing the siding with vinyl siding and replacing our roof.  By we, I mean that we hired some one to do it.  It’s been almost 2 weeks.  And it’s stressing me out so bad that I can barely sleep.  Not only can I not stand people working at my house (because I have to have everything just “so”), but they’re leaving their trash around, throwing cigarette butts on my porch, and stepping all over my beautiful flowers.  Needless to say, I’m not a very happy camper and I’m counting down the minute until they’re done (which, right now, seems like never).

Food, pool and puppies 063

2.  I made a resolution to run at least 3 times a week.  This was working out rather well about a month ago.  But I haven’t gone once since then.  This isn’t just disappointing to me because I thought I could stick to it, but it was also one of my favorite “bad mood” and stress outlets.  You can see how this isn’t the best thing when I’m already wicked stressed out with #1.  (To redeem myself a bit here, I have done sit ups, squats, and push ups almost every single day).

Food, pool and puppies 064

3.  I still have no idea what “Pinterest” is.

Food, pool and puppies 067

4.  I’m really looking forward to my birthday.  I know that most people dread the idea of getting old, but I don’t mind.  As long as there are presents involved.  Oh, and I am treated like a princess the entire day.  If I am not, I’m afraid to tell you, I pout the entire day.

Food, pool and puppies 068

5.  Jon and I have been putting off going grocery shopping for about 2 weeks now.  I’ve learned that I’m pretty darn resourceful with the pantry.  Oh, and I’m really awesome at ordering Chinese food.

Got anything to confess?

FF: it’s the little things

We all know that it's super important for our husband to give us the grand gestures, flowers, and extravagant date nights.

But in reality, it's the little things that make us fall in love with them day after day.

Today's Friday Five is about the little things.

1.  When my car is on empty, he fills it up.  When we're out somewhere together and have to get gas, he always gets out and fill it up.  Jon is actually the first guy that has ever done this for me, and even 6 years later, I find it to be a romantic gesture.

2.  When I'm not having a good day, he offers up the things he knows will make me happy - baby clothes shopping, my clothes shopping, a run, a walk, or a glass of wine.  Not only do I get excited about all of those, but it really makes me feel like he knows me.  Especially when he suggests I go to Carter's.

3.  He never leaves the house without kissing Peanut and me goodbye and saying "I love you".  No matter what.  And yes, even when he's mad at me. I'm much less mature about this one.

4.  He pretends (yes, I know he pretends but it's still nice) to care about every piece of clothing I buy.  So when I come home and say, "wanna see what I got?" He eagerly tells me yes and settles down for the 'Show and Tell' while I try on every single outfit or show off Peanut's new outfits.  Then he nods and says it's the cutest thing ever at all the right times.

5.  He reads my blog.  Did you know that about him?  Jon is one of my biggest supporters.  And not only does he read my blog (without me mentioning that I posted something or forcing him), but he reads almost every single one of your comments (I only know because he occasionally brings this up and it always shocks me).

What small gestures make your day?

FF: 5 Jobs I’ve held over the years

All these conversations about jobs on this post make me think back to all the awesome/crazy/fun jobs I’ve had through my years (excluding the current one, of course).

So here we are – 5 jobs I’ve held over the years.

1.  Hollywood Video – shift manager
I have to say, this was probably one of my all-time favorite jobs ever.  I started working here the summer before college and continued throughout college on my breaks.  I started off an associate, sitting on counters, watching movies, giving others my very honest opinion about the movies (which I have always watched way too many of).  Then, after some time (maybe a summer?), I moved up to be a shift manager – someone who opened or closed the store, counted up the cash, etc.  I loved every single moment of that job.  Especially that unlimited free rentals and free promo t-shirts.  Sometimes I still miss this job.

2.  Friendly’s – waitress
I had a love-hate relationship with this job.  I loved the fun environment, the awesome co-workers, and the free food.  I did not like the horrible assistant manager that once tried to grab my butt (I slapped him), the nasty food smell, and the 20 or so pounds I gained while working there.

3.  Used car lot – umm...car babysitter?
This job was ridiculous.  I got paid $10/hour to do my homework on the hood of a car in a used-car dealership.  The owner would have to go on long trips to pick up a car he purchased and I, along with one of my very close friends, used to have to babysit the cars.  If someone came in to test-drive a car, we were responsible for jump-starting it a few minutes before and letting it run to charge up the battery.

4.  Skin care small company – label applier?
My bff in high school (not Inna) and I worked in the basement of one of my neighbors putting labels on bottles of lotion and making up gift baskets.  Basically, for about 2 hours after school a couple of days a week, this chicky and I sat in a room, played music, chit-chatted and giggled while doing some mindless work.  It was a good time!

5.  Jo-Ann Fabrics – various positions
Oh Jo-Ann.  I miss you so.  I loved this job.  I loved the handful of elderly ladies that I worked with.  I loved the crafts.  I loved the discount.  I loved that it was in a mall that was walking distance from my house.  I loved our Sunday night movie nights (yes, I went to the movies with a bunch of way-older-ladies who made fun of me for hanging out with them).  I loved every single moment of this place.

Alright, let’s hear yours:
a.  What’s the funnest(that’s not a word, but I’m going with it) job you had?
b.  What’s the most boring job you had?
c.  What’s the most stressful job you had?
d.  What’s the most laid back job you had?
e.  What’s the craziest job you had?

FF: Kitchen Gadgets I Covet

My bff and I were talking about what our parents did for us when we were babies (we’re both Russian) and the topic of de-pitting cherries came up (don’t ask; we’re weird). And then we found some more awesome gadgets.  So that, ladies and gents, is how today’s Friday Five was born – Kitchen Gadgets I Covet.

1. Cherry Pitter

Image via amazon.com

This would help me scoop hundreds of these into my mouth in a matter of minutes.  Without chocking.

2.  Strawberry stem remover

image via amazon.com

Umm, did you know this existed?  Because I did not.  And now that I do, taking the stems off my strawberries is one of the most tedious tasks ever.  Honestly, who ha time to waste on de-stemming the berries?  Not me.  I'm a busy person.  I'm very important.  I have many leather-bound books.

3.  Pineapple slicer

image via amazon.com

I know what you're thinking - THAT is how all those pricy restaurants do it!  I know, I know. I have ESPN.

4.  Apple Corer

image via amazon.com

I quit.

5.  Herb Scissors

image via amazon.com

I just recently learned that it's easier to use scissors to cut herbs to start with...and now this?  What has this world come to?

On a side note, it's my birthday in July.  I'm going to be...uh...25 (that's my new favorite age).  So if you're struggling with gifts (*cough* Jon *cough*), this is a gimme. You're welcome.

What is the coolest gadget you own?  What kitchen gadget do you covet?
