Sleep training poll results

Here are the poll results to date from the sleep poll I posted last week. 

Ours is a baby, although I have done the sleep training with all 3 of my pups (none of them involved crying it out).

We started the sleep training a week or so after Peanut turned 4 months old, so I checked the first box.

It took us just under a week, although there are some random nights here and there that Peanut will wake up and cry for a minute or two.  Usually it is caused by something (i.e. the horribly loud thunder storm we had) and we don't go to her right away.  She falls asleep again without any help.

We used the Ferber method, which I would recommend.  Although don't read it and stick to it 100% - read it for some background information and then apply the parts that you think will work for you.  Another thing that I think is important to remember is that even if you pick a specific method/time interval/etc,  you can always change it! i.e. we decided to take the paci away at the same time, but changed our mind after seeing that it was not working for naps and kept it for nap-time.

I checked "yes" but I'm not a very good sample here since it's only been a couple of weeks for us.  I'll report back later!  I have, however, heard that we may have to do the sleep training a few times after Peanut is sick/travels/changes habits/etc.  So keep an open mind!

B. Bed size: Queen.  Not by choice.  But a King size bed wouldn't fit in our bedroom.  I think if we had a King size bed I'd let all my kids and dogs sleep in bed with me.  Which might drive Jon nuts.

C. Chore you dislike: Umm because there are chores that you like?  If I had to name just one I'd go with dusting.

D. Dogs: We are down to 2 - Travis, the spoiled-rotten yorkie, and Cailey, our dumb but very loyal Schnauzer-Pug mix.  We miss you Jas.

E. Essential start to your day: Since Addison was born, there isn't anything that I've gotten to do in the morning other than feed, change, play with baby.  But once she settles down a little, I usually like to pour myself a cup of coffee (something new because otherwise I've been getting crazy headaches postpartum) and some breakfast.

F. Favorite color: Pink.  Shocker, I know.

G. Gold or silver: White Gold.

H. Height: 5' 4"

I. Instruments you play(ed): Piano.

J. Job title: IT Manager.  Did you see that one coming?

K. Kids: Addison Haley, aka Peanut, Peepee, Addi, Goober...

M. Mom’s name: Wait, my mom?  Marina.

O. Overnight hospital stays: Aside from some childhood stuff in Russia which shall never be spoken about again, the first time was when Jon broke his neck.  Then once more when Addison was born.

P. Pet peeves: I have so many.  This might be why Jon says I'm too irritable.  Here are my top 5 (we all know I love my 5-lists) - mouth noises especially while eating or chewing gum, when people don't replace the garbage bag in the trash can after taking a full one out, rings from electrical toothbrushes on the sink, leaving just one or two chips/pretzels in a bag and then putting it back, unnecessary and overwhelming PDA (I'm not talking about a cute kiss here and there).

Q. Quote from a movie: "You dirrrrty rat. - I already said that. - Yeah, but I say it better."  Quick, what movie?

S. Siblings: A little sister.  I guess technically she's not little anymore, but she's still my little sister.  Love you, Lana.

T. Time you wake up: Usually around 6am and sometimes, if Peanut goes along with this, again around 8am.

U. Underwear: I love underwear.  I don't understand this question.

V. Vegetables you don’t like: Mushrooms. So gross.

W. What makes you run late: Not too much.  In case this isn't out in the open yet, I'm an obsessive scheduler so being late is out of question.  But with Peanut here...I guess I'll have to learn to let go.

X. X-rays you’ve had: Hmm my teeth?

Y. Yummy food you make: All my food is yummy...just kidding!  Turkey meatballs.  Which I have to post, I know!

Z. Zoo animal favorites: Monkeys.  Duh.

Survey results

Thanks for playing gang! Here are my answers and the results of the Survey from Friday's post.

 I don't commit either - in case you don't know me by now, commitment is not exactly my thing.

Gang, I love your answers.  Apparently I missed a whole bunch of fun stuff like dance and Zumba!  My favorite activity pre-pregnancy was definitely running.  After the first few months of pregnancy, I switched to walking.  I can't wait to start running again!

I'm into a variety of things - shocker, I know.  Did you notice that most of my answers had that option?  By the way - thanks for your fun comments on this one.  As for whomever put down that their husband cooks their meals for them - please e-mail me a.s.a.p. with training guidelines to get mine to do that.  PS- ramen noodles don't count.

Wine, wine, wine.  Oh and another glass of wine please!  Can we say how excited I am that I can have a glass of wine in the evening again?  So far I've only tried about half a glass because I'm a paranoid freak and have absolutely no tolerance anymore, but OH MY DID IT TASTE GOOD!  PS- Spiked hot chocolate? What?! Why didn't I try that before?

1. Do you prefer cats or dogs? 

Ummm...have you ever read my blog?  I'm a dog person.  Don't get me wrong, cuddly little kittens are cute and all, but I would take any pup over a cat any day or night.

2. Do you prefer chicken or steak? Or are you a Veggie?

I loooooove me some steak!  But unfortunately it's not all that good for you in large quantities, so I tend to eat more chicken.


3. Do you eat at the dining room table or on the couch?
Honestly, I'd much rather eat at a dining room table, but we always end up eating at the coffee table by the couch.  Maybe once we have kids we'll switch to a more formal setup to encourage dinner conversations, but for now, I'll be vacuuming my couch way too many times to make sure no food is stuck behind any cushions.

4. Would you prefer a digital camera or do you enjoy the surprise of developing pictures?
As cool as it is to be surprised by waiting to develop your pictures, I absolutely love the new technology of digital pictures.  It's great to see how your pictures came out and if you need to retake any or to plug it in to your computer and print copies instantly on your photo printer.

5. Would you prefer to cook or go out?
I love cooking, but since I've gotten myself pregnant (I'm just teasing, it was 100% planned!), I've had cravings for take out and restaurants in general.  I've had no food cravings and no aversions that many go through when pregnant, but I've recently wanted nothing more than to go out. Daily.  Obviously, we don't do that because then we'd be broke and probably incredibly unhealthy, but we've definitely started spending more time out than we ever have before.
