Sunday might be my favorite day of the week. Once you get past the idea that you have to go to bed early and prepare for work the next morning, they are the most relaxing, non-commitment days. They're great if you want to be super lazy and lounge the entire day away on the couch. Those days are among my favorites. I love spending the whole day watching re-runs or movies I've already seen, accompanied by tubs of ice cream and lazy puppies.
Other Sundays are more about exploring. These Sundays are just as amazing, but in a completely different way. I love getting up a bit later than usual and lazily making our way to our favorite breakfast place, the Coffee Break in Clinton, CT. We always sit at the bar and order the same thing: 2 eggs, corned beef hash, and toast along with a coffee and a diet coke. I'm sure other people wouldn't find this appealing, but it's kind of our thing. We always take our time, chit chatting and catching up on our weekends with each other. There is never any hurry on Sundays and rarely an agenda. Following breakfast, we explore CT. Sometimes we end up at a random store, others a stroll through some quaint downtown.
Today we also decided to check out a state park we haven't been to: Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme, CT.
This is the first year that we went ahead and bought a CT State Park pass which gets us in to every state park in CT (I know, the name is tricky, so I thought I'd clarify).
Rocky Neck is a pretty cool park. There is a pavilion that looks like an old castle, a beach, and some hiking trails.
We spent a couple of hours exploring and walking on the boardwalk along the beach.
And, as I'm known to do, posing for some pictures.
Okay, so the bee wasn't posing, but I love watching them do their business in the roses.
After the park, we decided to stop at the Tanger Outlets on the way home. There is very little I love more than strolling along the walkway, popping in and out of stores. I have a slight shopping addiction and I will buy just about anything. And I mean anything. We buy anything from cookies, crackers, salsa to furniture, home decor to kitchen favorites. One of my favorite stores is Le Gourmet Chef. Here's what we ended up getting there:
I've been bugging my husband to get me one of these for about five gazillion years. I'll be using this for meatballs, cookies, and just about anything else I can. Believe it or not, this size isn't so easy to find!
I also got one of these:
Don't you just hate when you cut up all those veggies into tiny little pieces and then spend about 2 minutes trying to scoop them all up? I do. So I got this. I love it. As is my nature, I already used it.
We also got a stainless steel big spoon rest, but I can't find a picture.
Then we went home, grilled up some veggie burgers and ate lunch outside, enjoying the warm weather.
I just love Sundays. Sundays are my favorite.
