Top 5 things I love and hate about home ownership

In no particular order.

Top 5 things I love about home ownership

-We get to take on home projects like these
-We are investing in our assets. Sort of.  The market's really not helping us much.
-We have a big yard and can do whatever the heck we want.  Sometimes I throw cans in the yard because I'm too lazy to walk back into the house when I'm about to go somewhere.  Then I feel guilty and end up cleaning them up before I leave.  I think I'm a little obsessive compulsive.
-I get to plant flowers in the spring.  And have a veggies garden.  Jon gets to obsesses about the color of his grass.
-It's mine.  All mine.  Mine, mine, mine.  Well, ours.  But it's our house.  And we're pretty proud of it.  And every little thing we do is because it's our house.

Top 5 things I hate about home ownership

-It's all ours.  Including the problems like a flooded basement, a broken boiler, a leaky roof, a clogged sink.  There are no landlords to call to fix things for us.
-It eats all my money.  Between paying for repairs, issues, or just investing into projects, this house eats up my money like it's a starving golden retriever.  I keep trying to teach it that money doesn't grow on trees, but it's a house.  So it doesn't understand.  You know?  Because it's just a house.
-We have to make a lot of big decisions like when to invest into a new roof or when to refinance.  I'm not sure I'm old enough for this.
-The work is never ending.  The yard always needs grooming, the gutters have to be cleaned, the snow has to be shoveled.  I wish we could just take a pass for one year.  But we can't afford that because it eats my money.
-We have to be mature and learn all these things like how to clean the gutters, to wash the window screens, replace the light fixtures, use a wet vacuum to dry up the basement, maintain the boiler, restart the well pump.  Some days I feel like I'm just a kid and shouldn't be dealing with this.  But then I see my license and it tells me I'm 26.  And then I google how to maintain a boiler, restart the well pump, and many other things that I'm now dealing with.
