Friday Five - Favorite Wine

I think this is going to be my favorite but hardest Friday Five of all time.

Favorite because...well...duh.  It's wine!

And hardest because there is no way that I can pick just 5.

So I reserve the right to change my mind at any point.  But for now.  Here it is.

1.  CigarZin from Cosentino Winery

Um this wasn't a hard choice.  This is my favorite wine of all time.  And it's not super pricey.  But it is extremely strong.  And very bold.  And tastes like Cigars and steak.  So beware.

2.  Estate Reserve Chardonnay from Chamard Winery

This is actually a local winery here in Clinton, CT.  And it's delicious.  I think it is my favorite Chardonnay. One thing to keep in mind is that this is a very oaky Chardonnay so if you're into a more buttery taste, this isn't for you.    Maybe I can talk Jon into taking me there this Saturday...

3.  Malbec from Layer Cake Wines

If you love a delicious Malbec from Argentina this is totally for you.  Although, surprisingly, it is not carried by many stores in CT.  Why not, CT?  There is a little wine bar that has it.  I'm not sure why I haven't been there lately...oh yeah, pregnancy.

4.  Pretty much any wine from Chateau Ste. Michelle

This is more of an every day wine that you could bring to someone's house and it never disappoints.  I especially love their Chardonnay or Riesling for a hot summer day.

5.  Riesling or Chardonnay from Kendall Jackson

I am obviously dreaming of hot summer days on the porch.

I'm dying to hear your favorites!

  2. I'm not a big wine fan, personally, but the occassional white is nice (I like crisp, fruit whites like a good Pinot Grigio or Savignon Blanc). And I absolutely LOVE champagne!!

Anyway, since husband (and his entire family really) are huge wine drinkers I thought I'd share his favorite. He's like you and loves tons of wines but his fave is the Coppola Black Label Claret. (I even had a suprise grooms cake made for him that was this wine bottle!) It can be a tad pricey in the high teens but we'll occassionally find it for $12-14 and I always make sure to grab it for him. If you haven't tried it you should, have raves about it!

  3. Wine has never been something I care for. However, that all changed this weekend. My sister and I traveled to Central Kansas to take my gma to a Murder Mystery at the Smoky Hill Winery. They had wine tasting before and for the first time in my life I said, "I'll take a bottle of the Sweet Lady and a bottle of the Pink Catawba." They are super sweet and are awesome. Who would have thought wine in Kansas? The Pink Catawba is a semi-sweet rose wine and the Sweet Lady is a sweet white wine that is named after the founder's wife. I'll do a post this week about if you want to check it out!!
