FF - fun keyword searches

Do you have any analytics software installed on your blog?

I use Google Analytics and it allows me to slice and dice the hits coming to my blog.  One of those is the keywords that people use to search and land on my blog.  Here are 5 of the funnest (is that a word? It’s not…) searches that landed my blog this past month.

1.  Living with 2 girlfriends - 6 searches, stayed on the blog for about a minute and looked at an average of 5 pages.  Don’t you wonder what it is that they found on this blog that made them stay?  And why are there so many searches that land on my blog?

2.  august 2011 baby tree falls on stroller - 2 searches, stayed on the blog for about 3 minutes and looked at an average of 5 pages.  Oh my goodness.  I’m terrified for these people.

3.  how to eat delicious dried fish goldfish russian - 1 search, stayed on the blog for less than a minute and only looked at an average of 1 page.  Are the fish Russian?

4.  fart site:livinglikethekings.com - 1 search, stayed on the blog for under a minute and looked at an average of 2 pages.  For the record, girls do not fart.  I have no idea what they found here.

5. talk to poop - 1 search, stayed on the blog for under a minute and looked at an average of 1 page.  Do I talk about poop a lot here?

Got any fun(ny) searches to share?

Q & A - the Q

You know what I realized today?  That we haven't done a Q & A in a while.  So leave a comment on this post with your questions, and I'll post the answers in future posts.

Feel free to peruse the previous Q & A posts.

I'm relatively open (be nice) about most topics.  Here are some popular ones

  • Breastfeeding & pumping
  • Peanut's sleep training
  • Our toys
  • Daycare
  • The dog
  • Our schedule and chores
  • My (current lack of) work outs
  • Baby food
  • Adult food

Okay, have at it.

Sleeping habits - the adult version

No, no - not that kind of adult version.

I’m talking about actual sleep here.

More precisely, cuddle habits.

Allow me to set the scene.

It’s 10pm and the two of us climb into bed.  Jon grabs his 3 pillows, places two under his head and one on top of his face.  He lays on his back.

I climb in, move both of my pillows off to the side, and snuggle up to Jon.  He shifts.  I wait and when he’s done, I snuggle up closer.  He shifts again and tells me he’s uncomfortable.  I say “ok, then you snuggle me.”  He sighs, turns and spoons me.  I snuggle up with my pillows and let out a happy sigh.

10 minutes later Jon shifts away.  I let out a frustrated sigh.  Jon falls asleep in 5 minutes.  I stay up for another 30 because I can’t fall asleep unless I’m snuggling.

Tell me - are you a snuggler?

If you’re snuggling, are you the big spoon or the little spoon?

A Glimpse - Day 7

Well, folks, it’s Sunday.  Which means that this is officially my last post in the Glimpse series.  I’m not going to lie to ya - I’m going to miss these.  It’s been a ton of fun!

This morning Peanut woke up just after 6am (which, in case you haven’t noticed, is the exact same time she wakes up every single morning).  I fed her in bed, then played a bit while I pumped.

Since Jon looked all peaceful and stuff, I let him sleep in while Peanut and I played in the basement, aka the playroom.

Around 8am she was ready for her first nap, so I put her in her crib (where she fussed a bit but fell asleep), and got myself some breakfast (yogurt, banana, and coffee).

The new Crate & Barrel catalogue came, which means that I spent the rest of Peanut’s nap rearranging some of our kitchen and living room.

Jon woke up, saw the Crate & Barrel catalogue, saw me walking around our living room, moving stuff, nodded knowingly, and went to brush his teeth.

At 9am Peanut woke up from her nap, so I fed her and we continued our play.

She’s very bossy.  I guess at least she knows what she wants and doesn’t take “no” for an answer (unless you want to hear a wailing baby for hours on end).

Jon and I took turns watching the kid and getting some chores done.  In addition to moving all the accessories and some electronics between the two rooms, I also vacuumed, got some laundry going, and cooked.  Jon dusted, continued the laundry, and cleaned up the bathroom.

Then I gave the dog a haircut and a bath.

He was not a fan.

Peanut took a nap from noon until 1, at which point Jon fed her abottle because I was still cutting the dog’s hair.  I ended up pumping right after.

Somewhere in here we also ate lunch (turkey, cheese, avocado, tomato and lettuce on whole wheat).

To prepare for the week (since we actually have groceries now), I made us some of these mini lasagnas,

and these cookies.

Peanut took her last nap from 2:45pm until about 3:30pm.  While I was feeding her, she fell back asleep.

I didn’t have the heart to bother her, so I just sat around, playing on my phone for a half hour or so until she woke up.

Apparently, rainy days make everybody sleepy.

after some more play time in the basement,  we fed Peanut dinner (sweet potato, green beans, and yellow squash), then had some dinner ourselves (the mini lasagnas).

I think you all know the drill here.

Bath,

play time, then bed for Peanut around 7:30pm.

After she goes to bed, I’ll take a bath, do my nails (it’s my Sunday ritual), and settle down on the couch next to my husband to watch the finale of Food Network Star and blog.

Ah Sundays, how I love you.

Back to regular blogging schedule tomorrow.  Starting with a weekly recap.

Are you going to miss seeing my boring, monotonous days?

I’m dying to see your weeks - if you’re up for it!

A Glimpse - Day 6

First and foremost, did you enter the Giveaway for a $25 gift card to amazon.com?

Secondly, excuse me as I slow down in the posts after this weekend and begin working on transferring my blog to Wordpress.  I’m still not sure what I’ll end up doing, but I did select a host and bought all the stuff I need.  My initial plan is to try it myself, most likely mess things up, and then pay someone to fix it.  Like my plan?   Got any advice to give me?

Now let’s talk about our Saturday.

Peanut doesn’t seem to understand that it’s the weekend no matter how much we try to explain it to her, so she woke up at 6am.

I dragged her into bed with us and fed her.  Then I pumped while she played and Jon snored next to me (ok, he doesn’t actually snore but I’m a little bitter about the fact that he got to sleep in).

Actually, I should tell you that I got way too involved in my blog transfer last night and we didn’t end up going to bed until way too late…later than we have gone in over a year!  So waking up this morning was painful.

Around 7:30am we were all still hanging out in bed, so I grabbed Peanut her pacifier and let her fall asleep between us (don’t worry, I removed all pillows, blankets, etc from around her and made sure we were all super safe).  That lasted a total of 30 minutes when she woke up, crying.  I fed her again and nudged (I actually pushed and shoved) Jon to wake up and take her.  Then I tried to fall back asleep.

Jon took Peanut downstairs to play while I tossed and turned, then finally, gave up.

Around 9am I got up, made us some breakfast, fed Peanut her breakfast, poured a coffee.

Breakfast: croissant with cheese and turkey pepperoni.

After breakfast, Jon got in the shower while I played with the baby.

Then we traded.

Around 11:30am I pumped, packed the milk, put Peanut in the car seat to fall asleep and we headed out to Mystic.

IMG_2513

We got stuck in some silly traffic, which meant that Peanut woke up a little earlier than we expected (we planned for her to sleep through the whole drive).  I climbed in the back and entertained her while we finished the drive.

We got to the Mystic Aquarium around 12:50pm and used our library pass for a discounted ticket price.  Peanut loved seeing all the bright fish and the kids running around.

IMG_2515

There were so many kids!  And a ton of babies.  Apparently, we weren’t the only ones with the bright idea to go to the aquarium.

After we visited all the fishes, penguins, turtles, and sea lions, we went across the street and checked out the Mystic village and the car show.

We walked around, got some grilled cheese sandwiches (with roasted spinach, garlic, and pesto), then around 3:20pm we headed home while Peanut napped in the car.

At home, I fed her and headed out to the grocery store (I was getting rather sick of take out) while Jon mowed our overgrown lawn.  (Are you noticing a theme at my house? It’s called we-re-behind-on-everything.)

At home, I made Peanut some more fruit options (we were running low) by cooking, mashing and freezing pears, peaches, nectarines, and plums.  I even saved some of the plum juice to give to her instead of buying the concentrate stuff.  She loved it!

After dinner for Peanut (green beans and sweet potato), Jon gave her a bath while I finished her food (I made 4 ice cube trays).   Then we all played until 7:20pm.  I nursed Peanut to bed, we ate dinner (leftovers from past couple nights) and we settled on the couch.

I pumped and got myself a beer.  Now I’ll be here, messing around with Wordpress until (hopefully) 10pm when we’ll head to bed.

Tomorrow is the last day in the series!  Are you thinking of doing it?  It’s been so much fun!
